About C & W Shelter, Inc.

The shelter is located on a 190 acre farm and is located in several buildings: a remodeled 1913 2-story barn that is heated and has window air conditioners for "creature comforts." Glass doors and a small kitty door give access to light and an outdoor screen sunroom that is 38' long by 10' in width. There are 127 feline furballs in The Cat Barn; there are 52 in the Kitty Kottage. The old two level 12 room farmhouse has been remodeled (complete with outdoor environment) to care and house animals in need. Our own home on the property houses 20 of the cats and our office has the privilege of having bailey (Business Cat) and allexis (our PR cat). We have four wonderful part-time employees who clean, feed and care for the cats daily.

We actively seek volunteers (we have 16 currently) to visit, interact and give love to each and every one of our residents or to help with our fundraising efforts. There are many "care for lifetime" kits, due to aggression, FIV/FeLV and other problems. As the present time we are in need of more space as we are at our maximum capacity. We are in the process of developing a plan and fundraising activities for an addition to the Kitty Kottage to expand our Feline Leukemia/FIV needs room and to put in place a much needed Clinic room as well. We currently are rescuing only when an emergency need occurs. We have a Rehoming Program which helps people place their felines when a move makes it necessary for them to find a new home for their animals. The waiting list is often long, and time is needed to rehome animals. Two months would be appreciated. Grants are actively being sought for facility remodeling as well as a low cost spay/neuter program for the area communities as funding is available.

We spay/neuter all of the incoming animals and test them for FeLV, FIV. We also have an Education Program for area schools, an Adoption Program and a Pet visitation program to area nursing homes on a regular basis.

We are seeking more monthly sponsors of the felines-Actual cost to maintain one feline per month is $13.20 -sponsorships for one feline is $10, $15 for two, $25 for three cats. For your feline "Adoptee" sponsorship, you receive updates and photos of your feline and our newsletter published four times a year. If you are not currently on our mailing list, drop us a line and add your name to our distribution.

Your contributions and support helps immensely with the shelter expenses. The operational cost is approximately $2,624  monthly with an additional $840 per month for repairs and miscellaneous expenses. Vaccinations are around $972 annually. A more detailed breakdown reflects 1350 lbs of cat food, 20 cases of canned food, 1,525 lbs of litter and an average of $81 for vaccinations monthly. Basic electricity runs $150 to $500 a month (depending on the season & temperature) and maintenance and repairs may cost up to $200 monthly. Many items are donated and are well appreciated: blankets, toys, pillows, bedding, cleaning supplies, etc. Our annual operating budget is around $40,000.00. Cost per month, per cat is approximately $13.20.

If you would like to sponsor one of our felines, drop us a line. Even the smallest contribution helps! (Donations are tax deductible) You are very welcome to come visit us. We are not open daily, so call to make an appointment. We (and the felines) would be perfectly please to have you visit.
